Good to Know

Suspension & Steering questions.

How long do shocks and struts last?

Many last 50,000 to 100,000 miles, but rough roads and heavy loads shorten that. Oklahoma potholes do them no favors. We'll check them during a suspension inspection.

Is a clunking noise dangerous?

It can be. A clunk can come from a harmless sway bar link or a worn ball joint that affects control of the vehicle. Have it checked soon so we can tell you which.

Do I need an alignment after suspension work?

Usually, yes. Replacing struts, tie rods, control arms, or ball joints changes the alignment. We'll tell you when it is needed.
