Check Engine Light Repair in Broken Arrow
That little amber light can mean a loose gas cap or a misfire that is damaging your catalytic converter. We find out which, and tell you straight.
Solid light or flashing light?
A solid check engine light means the computer has found a fault that affects emissions or engine operation. It is not usually an emergency, but it should be checked soon so a small problem doesn't become an expensive one.
A flashing check engine light usually means an active misfire. Unburned fuel can overheat and ruin the catalytic converter quickly. If your light is flashing, ease off, avoid heavy acceleration, and get the vehicle to us as soon as you safely can.
Common causes we find
- Ignition coil and spark plug misfires
- Oxygen sensor and air fuel ratio sensor failures
- EVAP system leaks, including gas caps, purge valves, and vent valves
- Vacuum leaks and intake gasket leaks
- Mass airflow sensor contamination
- Catalytic converter efficiency faults
- Thermostat and coolant temperature sensor faults
How we handle it
We pull every stored and pending code, review freeze frame data from the moment the fault set, and then test to confirm the cause. You get a written estimate that explains the problem in plain English. If the fix is simple, we'll tell you that too. See our diagnostics page for more on how we work.

Check Engine Light questions.
Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?
If the light is solid and the car drives normally, it is generally safe to drive to the shop soon. If the light is flashing, or the car is running rough, overheating, or losing power, limit driving and have it checked right away.
Will the light go off by itself?
Sometimes. Some faults clear after several drive cycles if the condition doesn't return. The code is still stored, though, and a recurring problem will turn the light back on. It is worth knowing what caused it.
Can I just clear the code?
Clearing the code turns off the light but does not fix the cause. It also resets the readiness monitors your vehicle needs to pass an emissions check. We'd rather find and fix the problem once.
